Refers to moong bean that had been skinned and split, they are yellow, flat, easy to cook and easy to digest. Yellow gram is cooked as any other dal is cooked, pressure cooked along with chopped onions, ginger garlic paste, tomatoes and chillies. The don’t hold their shape so they are often cooked into purees and soups. Health benefits: Moong dal is rich in protein, folate, Vitamin B9, Vitamin A, Zinc, dietary fibre, antioxidant and magnesium.
